It seems like the only thing I post about now is going to bschool and work so I thought I change things up and post about something else!
Tiff brought to my attention the NYC Dumpling Festival. The festival, if you haven’t already guessed, is all about celebrating the chinese dumpling. A noble and practical food, it’s about time that the dumpling received a festival of its own. I imagine that there are rows and rows of dumpling stands that are manned by local dumpling chefs peddling samples of their work. The best part of the festival is the competitive dumpling eating sideshow. According to Tiff, this year’s winner chowed down 53 dumplings in 1.5 minutes. Although 53 is a commendable performance, it’s not as good as last year’s mark of 66. Sick. I think I might be able to finish one bag of frozen dumplings (usually containing 25-30 dumplings) in about an hour.
Needless to say, we need a dumpling festival here in LA. I know a couple of people that I’d like to see enter the dumpling eating contest. Someone needs to make this happen!!!
