I started this post back in game 4 but never posted it. Here it is.
I’m jumping the gun here but I’m looking forward to the 2008-2009 season already. There’s one thing I’ve been meaning to comment on since the Bynum injury and the subsequent acquisition of Gasol. Unlike most people, I don’t think a backcourt composed of Gasol, Odom, and Bynum would be a dominating force. The Lakers would have tremondous wingspan down low, but whoever is playing PF would be screwed if they had to defend a more mobile PF, ie Boozer, David West, Antwan J. Opposing teams would go small and just run circles around the Tri-Towers.
It’s going to be interesting to see what the Lakers plan on doing this offseason. My advice to Kupchak is to get rid of dead weights like Mihm, Vlad, MBenga, Coby, and maybe even Farmar or DFish and pick up a real PF , PG, and a guy who can complement Kobe’s passion and ruthlessness (a Rodman-esque type of player).
Judging by the Lakers’ game six performance, my suggestions to Kup still stands if the Lakers want to get back to the finals and beat Boston next year. They still need a power foward and should jetison the no-show players like Luke, Mihm, Farmar, DFish, shit, maybe even Lamar.
As for tonight’s game, it wouldn’t have been unfair if the NBA had let the Lakers wield knives and pipes. 39 points?! I only heard the game on the radio so I’m sure it was just as disgusting, if not more so, to watch. Sigh. The Lakers just wasted some perfectly good fuel traveling to Boston when they could have donated it to my gas guzzling pig.
On a happier note, I hit a single, a double, and a homerun in softball. I also let four ground balls go right through my glove, two of which scored runs. It wouldn’t have mattered since we lost 13-20, and here’s the but….. BUT, we had fun 
I got to play shortstop, a position that I don’t normally play and it turned out to be OK. Surely I would have snagged those grounders if I had more PT at shortstop but some of those shots were packing heat and I had to protect my pretty face from getting hit.
