The score to tonight’s football game was 84-14. Guess which side we were on. We got totally smoked (understated). I got burned so many times on defense that I took home the tire tracks Team Diesel left on my back. I can usually keep up with the speedy guys in the league, but Diesel had a couple of guys that probably ran track in college or high school.
The bright spot is that we didn’t get shut out. We made a decent run in the second half after going bagel in the first half. I tallied up two catches, several hip shakes, and a slipped disk or two while trying to elude defenders. Inspite of the loss, the game was fun and it got the old motor running.
As for the title of this post, I’m refering to the Lakers chances tonight. The consensus, not only from the analysts but from everyday people who aren’t disillusional about the Lakers’ chances, seems to be that the Lakers’ are only prolonging the inevitable: a Celtics win. If the Lakers’ play tonight like they have this entire series, then it’s completely over. It’s a miracle they pulled off Sunday’s game. It wouldn’t be far fetched to believe that Paul Pierce and Co. conspired to lose the game so they could pop the bubbly at home. Here’s to hoping that the Lakers prove me wrong. I won’t be watching them, not because I can’t stomach it, but because I have to go do some losing of my own in softball.
