Unless you don’t eat, then you’ve probably noticed that food prices have been going up this year. Inflation and scarcity of every agricultural commodity has been making the nightly news as if a famine were about to strike the world. Granted that in some places in the world, buying a loaf of bread means taking a loan out on the mud hut, I haven’t seen the hike in food prices myself until tonight at Tea Station.
Prices for meals/noodles have gone up $1 and snacks are up 50 cents. It doesn’t sound like much, but when you think that the cheapest noodle dish use to be $4.75, that same noodle is now 20% more expensive and 100% less satisfying. Visiting TS is now pretty expensive if you decide to get a bowl of noodles + tea. At least the tea prices have stayed the same even though it’s a bit ridiculous that a cup of tea is $3.70 something.
It’ll be interesting to see how long places like MCD and BK can continue with their dollar menus. Their margins are probably shrinking by the day. I better go buy a wheel barrow load of 99 cent cheeseburgers and freeze them while I can still afford to and while they’re still around.
Dude, I remember when MCD had the 6 nuggets for $1 deal and now it’s only 4 nuggets for $1…
better yet, i’ll send you a case of white castle burgers.
my favorite brand of flour, king arthur, used to be $2.79 a bag. it’s now almost $4.00 a bag. insane, yes?
