I could never have guessed from the name that Jazz Cat Cafe (JCC) was a hot pot restraunt. Located in Alhambra, JCC serves individualized hot pots as opposed to the traditional bigger community hot pot pot that I’m use to. In someways, it is very similar to the venerable Shabu Shabu House (SSH). There are several different soup bases that you can choose from, as well as different meat types. Each hot pot serving comes with veggies, noodles, and fish balls. Warning: the fish balls will explode, either in your mouth, or onto your neighbor.
Tina and I shared one original hot pot with beef. We also ordered an extra order of beef, fish balls, and noodles. The soup base was good, the meat, OK. JCC isn’t up to the SSH golden standard, but I’d do a repeat visit. 8 out of 10.
